This rare 1980’s Arnold Scaasi black silk shift dress is a stunning example of mid-century couture! The dress features a sheer silk chiffon overlay that creates an illusion neckline and long, transparent sleeves with subtle puffed shoulders and beaded cuffs. Beneath, the body is fully hand-beaded with vertical jet-black glass tube beads. Contrasting white beaded floral motifs bloom across the bodice and lower hem. The back reveals a delicate keyhole opening secured with a hook and eye closure at the neck and a Talon zipper closure beneath. The piece is fully lined in silk. There is a small area of wear to the sheer fabric near the shoulder, as shown, consistent with age and delicate materials.
