1940’s ~1950’s Heywood Wakefield Coffee Table

$950.00

This sculptural 1940’s~1950’s Heywood-Wakefield coffee table features the brand’s iconic wishbone legs and streamlined Mid Century silhouette. The table showcases soft, rounded edges & beautifully bowed & tapered legs reminiscent of “wishbones” and often referred to as such by collectors. Crafted from solid birch with gorgeous flowing wood grain throughout, this piece has an airy architectural feel while still offering a substantial presence. The table has been refinished in its entirety, exposing the solid wood’s natural, blonde tone and beautifully patterned grain. One repaired slit in the wood is photographed and noted for full transparency, but the repair is stable and blends well into the natural grain. A timeless and highly collectible piece that works beautifully in both classic mid century and contemporary interiors alike!

"It appears to have been built in 1945 the year WWII ended, but marketing didn't begin with supply chains for a few years after that.

Dad was at the Pentagon in DC when mom bought the furniture around 1955 when I was born at Fort Belvoir, Virginia it was put in storage in the late 50s early 60s while we were in South Korea and then it went to Belleville Illinois, then to Dover, Delaware while dad was flying to Vietnam and then back to Oxford, Ohio his last year in ROTC at Miami University and then to Fayetteville, North Carolina and then Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and then Croasdaile Village for the last 20 years. The furniture just had a good life, hope it still has more years."
