Mid century credenza, or buffet, by Robinson Furniture. The color of the wood on this piece is so beautiful and unique - with red undertones and blonde highlights, it really stands out as being both warm and bright at the same time. However, the most striking and defining features here are its cabinet doors with their woven diamond design across a heavily patterned & pronounced wood grain. This is such an uncommon and welcome design, and from a relatively lesser-known furniture maker. I fully refinished this piece - every surface has been repaired, restored and renewed. It was very satisfying to remove the old damaged and lackluster finish to reveal its naturally occurring beauty. There were several chips in the veneer along its edges, especially the bottom edges on each side. This happens during moving, when it’s lifted for moving, or with vacuums, the veneer gets chipped where our hands or other objects grab its underside. Some of the damage was pretty pronounced here, and although the patches were blended in and made less visible, they may be found upon close inspection. Apart from that, this piece cleaned up beautifully and has no other issues that merit a mention. It is from the 1950s~’60s, so it will have minor imperfections, but all commensurate with age and use. Relatively petite for a credenza or buffet - may be just the size you need!
