Mid century woven rush lounge chair designed by Mel Smilow in 1956. Solid beech frame with handwoven paper rush seat and back. Its beautifully tapered arms & legs meet at soft, rounded corners with detailed joinery. This chair has seen such a resurgence in popularity that they reintroduced the design in 2013, with the brand new replicated models fetching over $3-$5,000. This chair, however, is an original from the mid-20th century, and in amazing condition. See photographs. Chair is structurally sound and has no specific issues that merit mentioning. Just normal evidence of age.
