A gorgeous and complete set of eight mid century dining chairs designed by Richard Thompson for Glenn of California. Glenn of California was a manufacturer of high end designer furniture & Thompson’s most notable work was designed for them during the 1950s & 60s. His works were best known for blending functionality with clean, minimalist design - often having multiple functions for one piece - like a bar in a buffet or a stereo in a credenza. These chairs are an absolutely striking display of form meets function & comfort. Every opportunity was taken to design a work of art - every groove, angle and curve is intentional from the beautifully caned backs down each swung, sculpted arm to their solid, tapered legs. Even the joints in the swung arms offer an added element of design, as opposed to being made hidden. The legs are both angular and curvy, and made of solid wood. The seats are cushioned and covered in black leather.

This set is in excellent condition. All are structurally sound. No issues with structure, function, build. No loose joints. No rips, tears, stains or odors in upholstery. There is evidence of a few former repairs - some dried glue, barely visible. A few tiny breaks to the caning in the backs, these are barely visible. These only have minor signs of use, all commensurate with their age, but nothing I would call an issue.

Available for local pickup or local delivery. Please reach out prior to purchase for a quote to deliver. Be sure to choose “other payment options” and “local pickup” at checkout to avoid automated shipping charges. Or feel free to contact a freight company to arrange pick up & shipping - we are happy to facilitate that as well.

It is our mission to be 100% transparent and honest about any and all issues found, but all of our items are vintage - which means most of them have been worn or used and may have minor issues. In the event that we have overlooked an issue, it was not because we misrepresented the item, it is because the issue was not apparent enough to demand our attention. We can only apologize for our oversight and hope you can either repair the issue or resell the item, but under no circumstances do we accept returns.
