Mid Century Erwin Behr Sideboard or Dresser & Mirror

$1,100.00

LOCAL PICKUP OR LOCAL DELIVERY ONLY

A gorgeous German mid-century modern dresser and mirror set by Erwin Behr of Wendlingen, Germany (EBW), dating to the 1950’s–1960’s. The dresser retains its original EBW factory stamp and additional production/model markings on the reverse, a wonderful bit of provenance from this celebrated German mid-century furniture manufacturer! Crafted in oak with beautifully contrasting teak sliding doors, the dresser has a long, low-profile silhouette with softly rounded edges, tapered legs, gorgeous visible wood grain, and sculpted recessed wooden pulls throughout. The combination of woods gives the piece so much warmth while highlighting its clean, streamlined European modernist design. The left side features large teak sliding doors that open to reveal an incredibly generous storage area with interior shelving, while the right side houses a stack of five drawers. One of our favorite details is the top drawer, which was designed specifically for jewelry and accessories. It is fully lined in a rich burgundy cloth with gathered, divided compartments for keeping jewelry, watches, and other small treasures organized. The coordinating mirror may be the best part! It has an unusual sculptural shape with a gently asymmetrical top, softly rounded corners, and a frameless design that feels quintessentially mid-century. It can be displayed resting on the dresser as photographed, and we also have the wooden brackets to securely attach the mirror to the dresser base. This piece is in amazing vintage condition, especially considering its age. The oak and teak retain a beautiful warm finish and gorgeous grain, with the drawers, sliding doors, interior shelving, tapered base, and mirror all presenting exceptionally well. Only minor age-appropriate wear is present. A truly special piece of German mid-century design that combines beautiful craftsmanship with an incredible amount of functional storage — complete with its statement mirror, dedicated jewelry drawer, and surviving EBW maker’s markings!
