1930s Pink Crepe Silk & Gold Metallic Lace Bra & Slip • XS
Authentic 1930s crepe silk & gold metallic lace bra & skirt slip set. The sheer silk chiffon is the loveliest shade of bright blush pink, which creates a beautiful contrast to the warm glow of the gold metallic lace. The lace design is reminiscent of peacock feathers fully fanned & casts a subtle but sure sheen that is truly enchanting, both to witness and to wear! The bra is almost entirely made of this see-through lace, with additional net lace lining and pink silk hand rolled trim. The bra is further embellished with a three dimensional pink rosette and blue embroidered flowers growing on green stems. The straps are pink ribbon, and there are three metal hooks and eyes for closure on one side seam of the bra. The skirt slip has two sheer pink silk panels, front and back, fully adorned & surrounded by the shimmering lace. At the waist, the lace overlay creates a defining and flattering yoke. The waist should be elastic & stretchy, but the original elastic is deteriorating, fully stretched out and has lost its elasticity. However, the elastic could be replaced and tailored to fit your waist. The sides are entirely see- through lace. The slip has a crotch.
Condition: This set is in excellent condition. The lace has a handful of areas that are torn but repairable / see photos of all of these. The elastic in the waist of the skirt has dry rotted, but can be replaced. The gold metallic thread has bled onto the pink silk in some areas - mostly where the metallic lace meets the silk fabric, but also on the crotch, which I believe is also color bleeding from storage, and not from wear. This set appears to have never been worn, and exhibits no evidence of any wear or tear in the normal areas most vulnerable to stress from wear. I think all of its issues are from and commensurate with its aging over the past century of its existence. It is a stunning example of antique underwear & lingerie.
