1970’s Indigo Tie Dye Quilted Knit John Kloss For Cira 3 Piece Lounge Set •S•

$475.00

Vintage 1970s 3 piece set by renowned American fashion designer John Kloss. This chic & cozy set is comprised of a long sleeved tee, a quilted high-waisted corset front skirt, and a double-breasted quilted robe. Cira was a lingerie/sleepwear brand, so this set was originally designed as a sort of streetwear-ready hostess set. Kloss was best known for his “glossie” bra which came about during the “ban the bra” movement of the same era. However, he was widely recognized & acclaimed for his lingerie & loungewear, for which he won two Coty awards in ‘71 & ‘74, and still today his robes and evening gowns are on display in a permanent collection at The Met. He was inspired by abstract impressionist paintings, and I think this set is an especially incredible example of that influence on his work. His designs were sold alongside Emilio Pucci x Formfit Rogers at Sak’s Fifth Avenue in the 60’s and 70’s, this line was high-end and patronized by a fashion forward clientele. Made of a soft, 100% cotton knit (quilted on nylon backing on skirt and robe), and seemingly hand dyed in airy shades of indigo. In excellent condition, but not without a few minor issues, all of which are documented in the photographs. Robe has pockets and includes original belt.

Measurements (taken laid flat and doubled): Shirt: 33” bust, 32” waist, 20” long (shirt has about 3” of stretch) Skirt: 26” waist, 32” hip, 37” long (skirt has about 2” of stretch) Robe: 17” neck, 16” shoulder, 35” bust, 35” waist, 39” hip, 54” long (robe has about 4” of stretch)

All sales final: It is our mission to disclose all issues found, but all of our items are vintage - which means most of them have been worn or used and may have minor issues. In the event that we have overlooked an issue, it is not because we misrepresented the item, it is because the issue was not apparent enough to demand our attention. We can only apologize for our oversight and hope you can either repair the issue or resell the item, but we do not accept returns for items we have photographed & listed on our website.
