1960’s-70’s Black Ribbed Knit Zip Up Collared Catsuit •XS•
This fabulously feline piece of 1960s fashion is on the prowl for her new owner! This is a stellar example of a true vintage catsuit, and it’s no surprise given its provenance. This piece came from a woman by the name of Jackie Jean, who lived and worked as a Maytag Appliance model in NYC throughout the ‘60s & ‘70s. She was supremely stylish, shopping at all of the “it” stores in Manhattan, and I am the proud steward of her collection of clothes from that era - most of which she proudly held on to her entire life. Her collection included a handful of now-museum-worthy pieces by Pucci, Issey Miyaki, Betsey Johnson for Paraphernalia & John Kloss, and many other sought-after vintage labels. I say this because, sadly, Jackie Jean was a label-cutter. She had no idea at the time how revolutionary some of her clothing would become, she was just on the scene, and SHOPPING. Unfortunately, this is one of those pieces out of which she cut the label, so I have no idea who is the designer and/or maker of this catsuit, and I can’t commit any more time to its research. Perhaps the lucky new owner of this will devote some time to discover the maker; I’d be surprised if it was NOT designer but that can’t be verified. It is, however, very well-made and in excellent condition. It’s as stretchy and curve-hugging as the day it was made. Constructed from a substantial, horizontally ribbed, synthetic knit, it clings to the body like a second skin from the ankles up to its mock turtle neck collar. A black metal talon zipper in back. Perfect for channeling Emma Peel, Cat Woman, or Marianne Faithful.
No issues found. Freshly hand-washed in cold water with mild detergent.
Measurements: 30”-36” bust, 22”-28” waist, 34”-40” hip, 17”-22” thigh opening, 27.5” inseam, 14”-16” shoulder
All sales final: It is our mission to disclose all issues found, but all of our items are vintage - which means most of them have been worn or used and may have minor issues. In the event that we have overlooked an issue, it is not because we misrepresented the item, it is because the issue was not apparent enough to demand our attention. We can only apologize for our oversight and hope you can repair the issue, but we do not accept returns for items we have photographed & listed on our website.
