This incredible 1980’s evening gown is a true showstopper, rendered in a vivid electric lime green and absolutely dripping in hand-applied beadwork. The sleek, floor-length silhouette is covered throughout in shimmering bugle beads, with dramatically heavier silver-tone beading, beads and faceted crystal accents concentrated across the bodice and shoulders. The sculpted sweetheart neckline is framed by wide bands of intricate silver seed beadwork, flowing up and around the neckline for an almost jewelry-like effect. Dramatically draped elbow-length sleeves create a strong, sculptural shoulder and are edged in dense silver beading for even more sparkle. The drama continues around back with a striking open-back design that plunges to the waist, while the beaded neckline fastens at the nape. A high slit in the long skirt gives the gown beautiful movement! An exceptionally glamorous piece with all the over-the-top opulence that made 1980’s eveningwear so fabulous. There is some scattered bead loss in a few areas consistent with age and the extensive handwork, but due to the incredibly dense embellishment, it is not particularly noticeable when worn and does little to detract from the overall impact of the gown!
