RARE 1930s-40s Crepe Rayon Chevron Max Dress • S

$295.00

Rare late 30s ~ early 1940s crinkle crepe rayon chevron maxi tent dress with a stunning spectrum of bold colored stripes across the dress’ diagonal design - including black, red, bright blue, muted blue, lilac, burnt orange and chartreuse. There are small pockets on both sides. Every seam is hand-stitched. The dress is fully lined/backed with netting that is sewn in all over (see up close shots of fabric). This sewn-in netting is an incredibly clever and early (and time-consuming) method for achieving the crinkle here, as they did not have the chemicals at this point that would go on to be used to create the plisse effect.

Very good condition but not without issue. Some spots, some worn areas. All photographed. The last three photos are close-ups of the fabric so you can see the construction.

The only measurement to take note of here are the underarms, which are small and will not accommodate larger sizes, which is unfortunate as the rest of the dress is extremely full and would fit most sizes. Perhaps they could be altered and opened to make more room. Not sure.

The circumference of the arm openings is 17.25” & I recommend measuring other arm holes that fit you well to determine if these will work with your body. Length of dress is about 52-55”.
