This is a rare 1930’s Jantzen sailor-style swimsuit, a classic American swimwear. The piece is made from a deep navy stretch terrycloth knit, a signature material Jantzen used during the era. The swimsuit features an overskirt with integrated shorts underneath. The square neckline and back are trimmed in contrasting ivory piping and finished with embroidered star appliqués. The back dips into a wide scooped sailor collar tied with a delicate cord bow. The tag inside shows the classic Jantzen “Diving Girl” logo and the “Made in U.S.A.” mark. Condition is overall good for its age with expected signs of wear. There are two small holes on the body and a cluster of holes in the crotch area of the built-in shorts, as photographed above. The fabric still retains its structure and rich navy tone. A timeless, collectible piece of fashion history!
